Renokrew is a Canadian owned and operated company delivering projects across Ontario – on lands that have been stewarded by First Nation since time long before written history. We acknowledge the enduring presence, rights, cultures, and knowledge systems of Indigenous Peoples and recognize our responsibility to carry out our work with care, humility, and respect.
Renokrew’s Indigenous engagement strategy is grounded in building respectful, long-term relationships that place community priorities at the centre of project delivery. We engage early and remain involved throughout all phases of work, collaborating with Indigenous partners in a way that values local knowledge, cultural context, and community governance. Our approach focuses on practical outcomes, including capacity building through employment, mentorship, and skills development, as well as meaningful participation of Indigenous-owned businesses through inclusive procurement. By combining open communication, cultural awareness, and community-led collaboration with disciplined construction delivery, we aim to create lasting economic, social, and cultural value that extends well beyond individual projects.
Renokrew’s Indigenous strategy is anchored in three interdependent pillars, much like a three-legged stool – each essential, and none able to stand without the support of the others.
Together, these three pillars create a stable and balanced approach that translates the principles of Truth and Reconciliation into consistent, meaningful action.
Relationship-Based Engagement forms the first pillar, grounding our work in trust, early collaboration, and respect for community governance, local knowledge, and cultural context.
Community Capacity and Economic Participation is the second pillar, focused on creating practical opportunities through employment, mentorship, skills development, and Indigenous business involvement that extend benefits beyond individual projects.
Culturally Informed and Accountable Delivery is the third pillar, ensuring that Indigenous awareness, respectful communication, and culturally appropriate protocols are embedded in planning, site practices, and design coordination.
Renokrew’s commitment to Indigenous participation is strengthened through Krewvelop Inc. (Krewvelop), our Indigenous-focused engagement and partnership platform. Working alongside Renokrew’s project teams, Krewvelop supports the development of meaningful Indigenous business relationships that prioritize inclusion, collaboration, and long-term value. Krewvelop is a majority owned Indigenous company and is registered with the Government of Canada’s Indigenous Business Directory.

Through Krewvelop, we actively seek opportunities to engage Indigenous-owned trade contractors, suppliers, service providers, and equipment partners. This integrated approach helps connect Indigenous businesses to real construction opportunities while maintaining the quality, safety, and performance standards expected of complex projects.
Renokrew understands reconciliation as an ongoing responsibility expressed through consistent action, not statements alone. We remain committed to working in ways that honour Indigenous rights, respect cultural knowledge, and contribute positively to communities across Ontario.
Our goal is to build more than structures – it is to support relationships, shared learning, and futures shaped in partnership.
Renokrew constructed a new three storey wood frame Violence Against Women VAW shelter for Anduhyaun Shelter, delivering a safe, supportive, and culturally sensitive space designed to empower women of all backgrounds. The facility includes fully equipped bedroom suites, administrative offices, and shared community spaces that foster healing and dignity. Built to Passive House level energy performance, the project achieved exceptional efficiency, comfort, and sustainability.
Scope of work included a slab on grade foundation supported by over 170 helical piles, new site services, at grade parking, and detailed landscaping. The building envelope featured high performance materials for durability and airtightness.
Despite a compact urban site and challenging soil conditions, Renokrew successfully executed the project through careful planning and coordination, delivering a resilient and welcoming space tailored to the unique needs of its residents.
The 12,686 sq. ft. Apitipi Anicinapek Nation Building is a new 1-storey wood frame structure designed is designed for the people and to serve the community. It features an office wing with 16 offices and a cultural wing with spaces for cultural activities. The building includes ICF foundations, glulam and heavy timber construction, wooden roof assemblies, and a combination of metal and EIFS cladding. Located on the waterfront, it provides a welcoming environment for employees and offers a Family Access Room to create a safe, happy space for children during contact visits. The project also encompasses new civil infrastructure, paving, roads, hardscape elements, curbs, sidewalks, and landscaping throughout.
The new 13,000 square foot building is designed to provide a modern and culturally appropriate workspace for employees, while also encouraging participation from residents of Mississauga First Nation in social services programming focused on children, youth, and families.
The building will be comprised of one storey and constructed using glulam and heavy timber, with concrete foundations. It will also feature a combination of steel and wood structural elements above ground.
The exterior features include masonry, siding, hardscaping, landscaping, playgrounds, roads, and a parking lot.
The proposed facility will provide a dedicated space for Child and Family Services alongside community and multi-purpose rooms. The service wing will include offices, healing and therapy rooms, while the community area will feature a large gathering hall, classrooms for cultural programming, an Elders Lodge, kitchen, and inclusive washrooms. All program areas are arranged around a central corridor designed to showcase and convey the culture and values of the community.
Renokrew’s scope of work includes the complete construction of the 24,000-square-foot facility and associated 65,000 square feet of site works. This covers site preparation, earthworks, grading, and the installation of civil infrastructure, including underground services and utilities. The scope also includes paving, hardscaping, and full building construction – structural, mechanical, electrical, and architectural – along with the interior fit-out of Child and Family Service spaces such as offices, healing and therapy rooms, and community facilities including
the gathering hall, classrooms, Elders Lodge, kitchen, and inclusive washrooms.
Renokrew is committed to building respectful, sustainable relationships with Indigenous communities connected to our projects and partnerships. These relationships are grounded in Renokrew’s core values and guided by respect for Indigenous rights, cultures, histories, and governance. We recognize Indigenous communities as rights-holders and partners, and we approach engagement with care, humility, and accountability.
Renokrew establishes and sustains these relationships through collaborative delivery models, partnerships, and inclusive procurement practices that support Indigenous participation in meaningful and practical ways. Our focus is on long-term outcomes, not transactional engagement. By planning and building with shared success in mind, we seek to support training, employment, mentorship, and Indigenous business participation that contribute to lasting community capacity and economic opportunity.
We understand that the strength of our relationships with Indigenous communities is demonstrated through our actions, consistency, respect, and integrity. Trust is built through good-faith engagement, transparency, and follow-through, including respectful, individual engagement with each community where interests or territories may overlap. Renokrew is committed to clear, honest communication from initial engagement through project closeout, ensuring that intentions, decisions, and challenges are addressed openly and collaboratively.
Respect underpins all aspects of our approach. We strive to understand the history, culture, traditions, and governance structures of the communities we work with, and we engage in ways that recognize Indigenous communities as governments with constitutionally protected rights. We acknowledge that community decision-making processes are often collective and take time, and we are committed to following appropriate protocols and consultation practices to support informed, community-led outcomes within applicable legal and contractual frameworks.
Renokrew recognizes that meaningful engagement requires sustained effort and dedicated leadership. We invest the necessary time and resources to steward Indigenous relationships responsibly and assign qualified personnel to lead engagement and coordination. Our staff participate in ongoing Indigenous Awareness and cultural competency training to ensure respectful conduct, alignment with agreed protocols, and shared understanding across project teams.
We also recognize the importance of community presence and participation. Where appropriate, Renokrew supports broader community engagement by participating in and sponsoring activities identified by the community, such
as cultural and celebratory events, youth and education programs, skills training workshops, and community-led legacy initiatives. Our involvement may also include supporting employment pathways, mentorship opportunities, and local training efforts that align with community priorities. Through these actions, we seek to contribute to long-term community wellbeing, cultural continuity, and sustainable economic capacity in a manner that is respectful, collaborative, and community-driven.
Renokrew conducts all Indigenous engagement in accordance with our corporate ethics and governance standards. Our commitment is to reconciliation in practice – demonstrated through consistent, respectful action and partnerships that create lasting value for Indigenous communities and the projects we deliver together.
