Lodge-model design organized into wings of 16 residents each for a non-institutional, home-like feel
Single-occupancy bedrooms, all with ensuite washrooms for privacy and infection control
Each Lodge wing includes its own living room, dining room, kitchen, and activity space
East-facing entrance and sacred fire, building oriented to the cardinal directions
Central oval-shaped community gathering area with commercial kitchen for events and celebrations
Single-storey design maximizing forest views, natural light, and safe outdoor access
Courtyards with ceremonial-fire gathering circles, culturally significant plantings, and barrier-free walking paths
Preservation of an existing black ash stand (a culturally significant, endangered species), with a seed-harvest and replanting program
Low-impact-development (LID) approach to stormwater management
Design shaped by extensive consultation with elders, Chief and Council, staff, and residents
